Find the Step That Makes It Click

Knowing the correct answer is a start. Understanding how to reach it is what helps you tackle the next problem.

The guide walks through the reasoning so you can compare it with your own work, spot the missing step, and try again with a clearer approach.

Make Every Practice Test Tell You Something Useful

A practice test can do more than show you how many answers you got right. It can help you decide what deserves your attention next.

  • Missed a question? Compare your work with the complete solution to find where your approach changed course.
  • Guessed correctly? Revisit the reasoning so you’re not relying on the same guess next time.
  • Took too long? Identify the step that slowed you down and practice it separately.

With seven full-length exams, you can return to a fresh set of questions after working on those gaps. Use the topic review alongside your class, then bring the concepts together in timed practice as you prepare for the exam.

Get Comfortable Working Against the Clock

Knowing the material and managing your time are different things. Practice both.

The companion timer gives each part its own countdown, shows the calculator rules, and offers an optional end chime. Open your practice test, start the appropriate section, and rehearse working within a time limit.

AP Calculus AB practice timer with four section countdowns, calculator reminders, and an optional end chime.
Practice each section with its own countdown. Review your answers using the provided solutions.

The timer uses the format effective with the May 2027 AP Calculus AB exam: 62 and 38 minutes for multiple choice, then 30 and 60 minutes for free response.

It helps you practice pacing. You’ll use the provided solutions to review your answers; the timer does not grade them or reproduce the official exam interface.

Give Your Student a Clearer Next Step

You don’t need to remember calculus to help your student choose a useful resource.

This guide gives them explanations to revisit, questions to work through, and solutions to learn from. Instead of an open-ended “study more,” help them choose a topic, attempt a practice section, and review what needs attention.

It’s a resource they can use alongside class and return to for exam preparation.

What’s Included

  • Seven full-length practice tests with complete solutions: two in the book and five downloadable PDFs.
  • Focused AP Calculus AB review: limits and continuity, derivatives and their applications, integrals, differential equations, and applications of integration.
  • AP-style practice questions with worked solutions: connect the explanation to problems you can try yourself.
  • A printable formula and concept reference: keep key ideas together during study and review.
  • The browser-based practice timer: rehearse section timing and calculator rules.
  • Video walkthroughs for selected book examples: see the reasoning unfold on screen. Videos do not cover every question or exam.

From the Teacher Behind Jake’s Math Lessons

I’m Jake Osterholt. I studied mathematics at the University of Oregon and have helped students work through calculus as a tutor and through my YouTube lessons.

I created this guide around the same approach I use in those lessons: explain the reasoning in a simple way that makes sense, work through an example, and give you a chance to put it into practice.

Questions Before You Choose

Are all seven tests printed in the book?

Two are in the book. Five additional full-length tests are downloadable PDFs. All seven include complete solutions.

Can I use this during the school year?

Yes. Review the topics you’re learning in class and work through the related questions. Use full-length exams when you’re ready to practice across the course.

How do I access the downloads and timer?

Use the resource link or QR code in the book.

Is this for AP Calculus BC, too?

This guide focuses on AP Calculus AB. Some material overlaps, but it is not a complete BC preparation resource.

Is this an official exam simulator or a score guarantee?

No. This is an independently published study guide, and the timer is a pacing tool. Neither guarantees a particular score. Use College Board’s official exam resources to check exam policies and become familiar with the exam interface.
